NURSE AIDE/ASSISTANT PROGRAM

Course Description:

The Certified Nursing Assistant Program will present the basics of bedside patient care under the guidelines of the federal and state requirements. Nursing assistants, sometimes called nurse aides, orderlies, and geriatric aides, assist in the care of patients. They work under the direction and supervision of registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and other medical staff. Nursing assistants have a great deal of contact with patients and provide personal care such as bathing, feeding, and dressing. They also perform support functions such as transporting patients, taking vital signs, making beds, helping patients become ambulatory and answering patient calls. Topics that will be covered during the program are the basic of being an RHCF Nurse Aide/Assistant, the basic nursing skills, personal care skills, mental health and social service needs, care of residents with special needs, basic restorative services and must complete a supervised clinical experience in a RHCF (Registered Health Care Facility). Participants who successfully complete the course will meet criteria to sit for the state certification examination.

HOME HEALTH AIDE PROGRAM

Course Description:

The Home Health Aide Program will present the basics of bedside patient care under the guidelines of the federal and state requirements. Like the Nursing Assistants, Home Health Aides provide personal care such as bathing, feeding, and dressing, but, all in the privacy of the patient’s homes. They also perform support functions such as transporting patients, making beds, helping patients become ambulatory and answering patient calls if necessary. Unless working with the elderly, or disabled, Home Health Aides are to effectively assist patients with their daily routines until they are fully able to perform self care. Students will be taught everything necessary to function and perform in the patient’s home to ensure respect and comfort for both them and the patient. Also, in order to graduate from the course the student must complete a supervised clinical experience in a home care setting. 

PERSONAL CARE AIDE TO HHA UPGRADE

Course Description:

The Personal Care Aide to HHA upgrade will present the basics of bedside patient care under the guidelines of the federal and state requirements. Students will be taught the differences in the duties of a PCA to a HHA and will know that Home Health Aides provide personal care such as bathing, feeding, and dressing, support functions such as transporting patients, making beds, helping patients become ambulatory and answering patient calls if necessary, all in the setting of the patient’s home. Successful, completion of the class must include a supervised clinical experience in a home care setting.
PERSONAL CARE AIDE

Course Description:

The Personal Care Aide program will present the basics of patient care under the guidelines of the federal and state requirements. A Personal Care Aide (PCA) helps with some or all activities of daily living and other tasks identified in a support plan/ plan of care. A PCA works in a home care setting and can also assist in running errands, grocery shopping, driving etc. The course will cover all the necessary topics to ensure that the student effectively does the mandated requirements and provide a respectful and comfortable environment.
